About The Event
Join Opera Elect for the virtual world premiere of composer/pianist Felix Jarrar’s micro-opera, The Oval Portrait, featuring baritone, Andrew Jurden and pianist, Chad Spears on February 21st at 5:00pm MST/7:00pm EST. This work is directly based from Edgar Allan Poe’s short stories; “Life in Death” (1842) and “The Oval Portrait” (1842) encompassing a painting artist’s drug-induced dive into madness. Jarrar’s music and Jurden’s performance will propel the viewer in and out of the artist’s lucidness using Poe’s macabre and poetic imagery. After the premiere there will be an opportunity to join the composer, performer, pianist, and Opera Elect’s artistic director for an exclusive interview.
